Delivery, Returns and Ordering

Delivery

Delivery is free for all orders over £50.00 and £4.50 for all other orders.
These charges include VAT at 17.5%

Most orders should be delivered in 2 to 3 working days.

If an item is out of stock or is likely to take longer to deliver, we will contact you via email to let you know exactly what is going on.

Please note: If your delivery address is classified within the Scottish Islands, Northern Ireland or the Channel Islands, there may be an extra charge depending upon the size of the parcel. For larger and heavier items, we will have to use a Courier for which there will be an extra charge. We will contact you to confirm this extra charge before charging your credit card.

Unfortunately at present we can only deliver to addresses on the UK Mainland.

It is your obligation to enter the correct delivery address at the time of ordering. If you enter the wrong address, we are not obliged to re-send the order to the correct address at our expense. The delivery address cannot be changed once the order has been shipped.

In order to confirm that an order shipped has been lost, we must wait 5 working days from date of dispatch before resending or refunding the cost of the order, subject to the discretion of Portfolio Store.

Returns

We deliver everything we stock direct to your door, and all products come with a 30 day guarantee.

It is your responsibility to contact Portfolio Store by email or phone to advise us of your intention to return or exchange any item(s) within 7 days of receipt of them. After this date, it falls solely within the discretion of Portfolio Store if a return or exchange will be accepted.

If the item(s) are no longer required or is an unwanted gift, you should notify the Portfolio Store within 7 days from date of dispatch. Requests to return no longer required or unwanted gifts after 7 days from date of dispatch are conditional upon circumstances.
It is your responsibility to adequately package and resend the items back to Portfolio Store address within 28 days, These goods will be returned at your own expense.

If your order qualified for free delivery and you are returning your goods for reasons other than faults or damage, we reserve the right to deduct up to £10 from your refund to cover our delivery charges. You will be informed of this deduction before it is done.

For a full refund goods must be returned in a reselable condition (i.e. undamaed and in the original packaging). If the returned item is not in this condition we may refuse the return or reduce the amount refunded as appropriate. This is at the discretion of The Portfolio Store and you will be informed of any deductions before they are done.

Your rights to return goods are protected under the EU Distance Selling Directive which can be found at http://www.hmso.gov.uk/si/si2000/20002334.htm

Please include a note explaining who you are and why you are returning the order with any return. Failure to do this may result in a delay in dealing with your return.

How To Order

Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our store, and add any items that you wish to buy into the shopping cart. After you have finished your selection, click on 'Checkout' and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to complete the order.

We accept credit card and debit card payment only. We accept Visa and Mastercard. We do not charge for any item until it is ready to ship. Backordered items are not charged until they are shipped. You may send your credit card information over the Internet or on some occasions over the telephone.

When confirmation of order is received, this is to indicate that we have received your order. It does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your order, and hence a contract between us, when we send you an invoice. We have included this term to protect us in the case that a mistake has been made in pricing, we have inadvertently under-priced goods, or we are no longer able to supply a particular product for some reason. In the case of a change of price, we will always contact you first to ensure that the price is acceptable.

Do you do discounts on bulk orders?

If you plan on ordering a large quantity of portfolios we can often offer a discount. Discounts are on an order by order basis and we do not normally discount unless the order is over £100.
For a quote please call or email our customer service department.

Do you have a next day service?

We do not currently have a next day service available but we are investigating this possibilty.

Frequently Asked Product Questions

What is the difference between a display book, display portfolio and case portfolio?

These three terms are how we distinguish the three most popular varieties of portfolio.
Broadly speaking they could all be described as "portfolios", so we have split them up to make it easier to find what you're looking for.

Display Books are portfolios which look like books. They have covers and sleeves and occasionally lappet closure.

Display Portfolios have handles and can be carried like a briefcase. However they also open out and have rings for sleeves inside. They also usually zip close.

Carry Case Portfolios are similar to display portfolios, except thay do not have the rings and do not take sleeves. This means they can take more than one size of sheet, but its usually best to mount any work before carrying it in one of these portfolios.

Which sleeves fit my portfolio?

If you are unsure which sleeves will fit your portfolio there is a link under the description of the portfolio to each type of sleeve it can take. If you are still unsure please call or email our customer service department today where we can assist you!
For ease of use, each book or sleeve size listed indicates the size of work that can be put in them.
Click here for information on choosing sleeves

What does "Archival" mean?

Archival means that the product is suitable for long term storage of artwork or prints. Work can be damaged if kept in non-archival conditions for any length of time so we recommend archival sleeves or boxes if you wish to do this.

What are the portfolios made from?

Portfolios are usually made from or covered in one of the following materials:

Hide Leather This is full leather as is typically used in upholstery. It has a visible leather grain. This is the highest quality leather we have available and is soft yet hardwearing.

Split Leather This is leather made from the inner layers of the hide which has been "split" from the outer. It is typically softer and smoother than full leather, and not as hardwearing.

Bonded Leather This is a form of reconstituted leather, where leather fibres are bonded with another material in a process similar to paper making. This has the typical leather features, such as smell and some texture but at a lower price.

Napella and Imitation Leather This is an imitation leather. It has a slight grain on the material similar to hide leather and is usually quite soft.

Vinyl and Leather Grain Vinyl Vinyl is a form of plastic and when used on portfolios it is usually stamped with a grain imitating leather. It is waterproof and quite hardwearing. It is also quite hard and stiff.

Buckram Buckram is stiff cloth. It is stiffened by soaking it in a substance to fill in the spaces between the fibres. It is hardwearing for frequent use in libraries.

Plax Plax is a plastic sheeting which is corrugated in a similar way to corrugated card.

If what you are looking for is not on the list please contact us for more information.

Can you make portfolios to my personal specifications?

Unfortunately we cannot. We do not make the portfolios we sell, so can only sell the sizes and varieties listed on our site.

Can you emboss a portfolio with my name or logo?

We do not offer this service at present.

I have a portfolio which is not on your site. Do you sell sleeves for it?

Our range of sleeves is tailored to the items we sell, so it is unlikely unless your portfolio is made by one of the manufacturers we deal with. However we are quite happy to check any dimensions you provide against the sleeves we have, just in case.
